Loveland Mountain View Rotary honored some special men and women making a positive difference in the lives of Loveland and Berthoud area youth.

Loveland Mountain View Rotary held its annual Heroes Among Us dinner Thursday, Feb. 23 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Loveland. This event provides Loveland and Berthoud area youth the opportunity to honor adults who have been role models or mentors. 

The honorees included: 
  • Teacher Toni Berry, nominated by Ixel Macias and Jordan Hyatt
  • Keristi Jessiman, nominated by niece Reagan Faughnan
  • Counselor Sheila McNally, nominated by Maggie Essig and Allison Berger
  • Teacher Daisha Agho, nominated by Morgan Thornhoff
  • Counselor Jana Cline, nominated by Tadiwa Guthrie
  • Conselor Ernie Baca, nominated by Dillon Gurnsey and Carlin Hunnycutt
  • Dennis Bernhardt, nominated by his granddaughter Breanna Tjaden

The honorees, and the youth who nominated them, were treated to dinner and were served by Thompson Valley Schools Superintendent Ron Cabrera, Loveland police Lt. Tim Brown, Ron Schroder from Loveland Fire & Rescue, Loveland police Capt. Ray Miller, Loveland City Councilman Phil Farley, and Retired Loveland Fire and Rescue Lt. Keith Gregg, a former Hero award recipient. Each winner was presented with a certificate and a gift from Rotary that displays the Four Way Test of the things Rotary members, think, say or do:

  • Is it the TRUTH?
  • Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  • Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  • Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

The Heroes Among Us event is sponsored by Home State Bank, The Group Inc.
